Hidi Horikoshi, Hiphop,

Owner and founder

Hidi took interest in dance when he first started attending Salisbury University in 2006. Dance became a way for him to be able to express himself, and became his passion. He studied hiphop extensively at Broadway Dance Center in NYC from 2007 to 2008. He was training to become an assistant to one of the BDC instructor’s, Bev Brown, but chose to go back to school to finish up his degree. He opened Komotion Dance Program in 2015, with just 75 dancers. He has taught master level hiphop classes to dance company dancers at Bloomsburg University and Salisbury University. His love and passion is working with kids, and he is grateful to have the opportunity to share his knowledge of dance and hiphop culture with so many kids in the Danville and surrounding communities.

Robin Adams, Jazz, Assistant Director

Robin began dancing at age 2 ½ at a local studio in her hometown of Danville, PA. She danced in the same studio until age 18, participating in many disciplines including ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, lyrical and hip hop. After high school, Robin joined the Dance Corps at Susquehanna University and participated in showcase performances for 4 years. She joined the Susquehanna University Dance team her sophomore year and led the team as captain her senior year. She has been involved in a variety of community dance programs and workshops for both dancers and instructors, and has participated in master dance classes in a variety of locations. Robin has been part of the Komotion team since year one, helping both in the classroom and as an administrator. She loves working with each and every Komotion dancer and hopes to help them find confidence, joy, and community through our program!

Michelle Benjamin, Office Manager

All of the coordination and organization that happens behind the scenes at Komotion is the work of our incredible office manager, Michelle! You may recognize her as an RMS trainer, as well. Michelle began her RMS journey as a client when the studio first opened. Her interest in fitness and health began to increase as she spent time at the studio. In the past few years, she has gotten certified as a Personal Trainer, Program Design Specialist and Certified Functional Strength Coach. She is one of the most sought after trainers in our area and the glue of our Komotion Nation!

Alexis Patterson, Contemporary

Alexis began dancing at the age of three and continued until her senior year in college. She has experience in ballet, tap, contemporary, jazz and hip-hop. Alexis has participated in a variety of workshops both for instructors and dancers as well as attend master classes in NYC. She is a graduate of Bloomsburg University with a major in Communication Studies and a minor in dance. She currently works at Bucknell University as an Events Coordinator in Alumni Relations. Alexis is excited to carry on her love of dance with her students.

Kylie Romeo, Pre-Ballet, Hiphop Mini and Modern

Kylie was born and raised in Danville, Pa. Her love for dance started at the age of 3 when she took her first ballet class. She continued to take ballet, lyrical, tap, and hip-hop classes through her senior year in high school. From then Kylie attended Misericordia University and received her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology in May of 2018. In college, Kylie was on the Misericordia Dance Ensemble for four years where she gained more experience with ballet, hiphop, lyrical, modern, Irish step and was the hiphop choreographer for the ensemble. She now works at Janet Weis Children's Hospital in Geisinger as a Speech-Language Pathologist. She loves working with kids of all ages and enjoys sharing her love of dance with all her students!

Chalea Marker, Ballroom

Chalea is excited to be a part of a community that not only teaches dance, but encourages dancers to be the best version of themselves and help others around them. She learned to love dance from her mother at an early age. She began by learning hip-hop, jazz, and tap, but found her passion for ballroom dancing when she was in 8th grade. She joined the her Junior High and High School swing teams shortly after. Chalea danced jazz for a short time while studying at BYU-Idaho in Rexburg, Idaho. 

Along with dancing, Chalea enjoys spending time with her husband, exploring new places, painting, and anything craft related. Her goals include helping her students be the best they can be, both inside and outside the studio, and helping them realize ballroom is not just an 'old person's dance style. 

Schuyler Amick, Ballet, Pointe, Pre Ballet and Intro to Dance

Schuyler began learning ballet around the age of 6 at a local studio in her home state of Massachusetts. By middle school she was a class assistant, and by high school she was teaching her own classes. Schuyler was eventually able to buy her childhood studio and successfully ran it until recently when she moved to the Bloomsburg area to be closer to her husband's family. Schuyler has also had the opportunity to learn and perform with the Granti State Ballet in Nashua, NH and has participated in the American Ballet Theater teacher training in NYC. Along with a wealth of ballet knowledge and experience, Schuyler brings with her a knowledge of many dance disciplines, choreography and a background in musical and gospel productions.

Schuyler believes that every body is a dance body and that a strong dancer is a safe dancer. Along with physical strength and technical knowledge, her classes are designed around a nurturing atmosphere to develop the dancer's own elegance of movement and self-confidence. Schuyler is also a mother of 3 and is excited to bring the joy of ballet to Danville and the surrounding areas.

Kelly Coffey, Jazz and Tap

Kelly grew up on Long Island, NY, where she trained in a variety of disciplines including, ballet and pointe, jazz, tap, lyrical, hiphop and modern. She earned a spot as a company dancer at her local studio at age 8. This launched her into the world of master classes, conventions, and competitions. During high school, she performed with the varsity kickline team and served as an assistant teacher at her studio. Kelly continued her dance studies as a talent scholarship recipient at Muhlenberg College, in nearby Allentown, PA. Outside of the studio, Kelly is a certified floral designer, an interior decorator, and a Disney enthusiast. She’s a lover of roasted veggies and also ice cream. (Because balance, right?)

Felicia Bartello, Pre-Ballet and Modern

Felicia began dancing at age three and continued up until her senior year of high school. She has experience in ballet, modern, and pointe. She attended Misericordia University and got her degree in Occupational Therapy with a specialization in pediatrics. She currently works as a pediatric OT at Janet Weis Children’s Hospital. She is excited to combine her skills and knowledge of child development with dance!

Casey Klinger, Pre-Ballet

Casey was born and raised here in Danville, PA. At 5 years old, she fell in love with dance when she began taking classes at a local studio. She continued through her senior year of high school, gaining experience in jazz, hip-hop, ballet, pointe, and lyrical. After graduation, Casey attended Bloomsburg University majoring in Biology and minoring in Mass Communications and was a member of the BU Dance Ensemble for 4 years where she participated in modern, jazz, pointe, acro, step, African, and taught hip-hop. She is currently working as a Quality Laboratory Manager at Merck and attending Bloomsburg University in pursuit of an MBA in Marketing. In her free time, she enjoys painting and traveling as often as possible. Casey is thrilled to be a part of the Komotion team and to have the opportunity to encourage children to explore the world of dance!

Audrey Simpson, Technique

Audrey started dancing at age six at Miss Pauline’s School of Dance where she was a member of both the corps de ballet and competition team until high school graduation. After high school, she attended Ursinus College where she majored in both biochemistry/molecular biology and dance. She was heavily involved with both the student run Escape Velocity Dance group which she served as president, and the Ursinus College Dance Company. She is primarily trained in ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, lyrical, and contemporary dance. She is so excited to be teaching at Komotion and hopes to help every dancer be their best self!
